random thought #2.

Paradoxically, docking and undocking on my x201 might actually be slower than doing the 3 cable dance on the macbook pro.

At “dock” time, OSX is a bit faster about reconfiguring the display and finding the mouse and keyboard I just plugged in, even if plugging them in took a bit longer.

At undock time, The thinkpad makes me go through an extra step because the dock has a cdrom (which I never use). On the Mac, I can just rip out all the cables and go.

It’s a combination of the useless DVD drive, and the fact that OSX can probably make more assumptions about stuff becomes big devices don’t come and go. But I never really thought about how that might negate all the advantages of a dock.
