Trying Opera 8.51 for Linux. It certainly seems very fast and much improved. The interface is a lot cleaner and doesn’t have all the weird MDI crap that it used to have before. Settings dialogs also seem a bit better, but it still seems hard to find common things (why are Font settings in preferences and not Appearance?)
Rendering correctness seems alright so far. I like their attempt at fixing up their support for choosing different fonts for different languages.. unfortunately, their choices for language map directly to the unicode character ranges, so instead of having one choice for “Japanese” they instead have “Kanji”, “Hiragana”, and so on and so forth, which is rather annoying. Almost, but not quite all the way. But its a step up from konqueror though.. I really wish they’d just fix it already.. its just UI stuff.
