Looking at the Kinesis Evolution got me thinking, what prevents someone from using two ‘mini’ keyboards hooked up to the same computer to simulate the same effect? You’d pretty much have one full keyboard for each hand, but you could position them in any orientation that you want. Would there be weird timing issues between the two?
Sort of like the Comfort Keyboards, but looking a little less oldschool?
Maybe it would work with a couple happy hacking keyboards or something with similar footprint. You could probably be even more flexible if you could teach your left hand to type on the right side of a keyboard, and your right hand to type on the left side.
*Update*: OK, so I tried this by typing on my laptop keyboard and external keyboard at the same time. It seems to work well at first, until you realize that modifier key’s don’t work across different keyboards. So that means if I press shift one one and a letter on the other, I still get the the lowercase.
Damn, thought it was actually going to work.
