Lot’s of news about it today. I’ll let you google for it yourself.
I tried to a little bit, but I still came away with questions.
They seem to make a big point about how PlaysForSure isn’t dead. But what’s the relation then exactly? Does it use something like PFS? Can the device play tracks you get from PFS services? And what of WMP11/URGE? I thought it was supposed to integrate with that, but it has its own Zune Marketplace client.
While I understand that there is a whole branding/marketing effort around Zune, and they are trying to make it straightforward, I don’t think _not_ being interoperable with existing PFS stuff is the way to go. But then again, it’s unclear whether that’s the case from the info out there right now.
Sharing songs between devices using WiFi is certainly interesting though. I can imagine that would be really nice with a subscription service. Its the portable version of sharing playlists.
