So for those of you who don’t know about it, the short story is that when I came back to the US after being in Canada for a couple years, I wasn’t able to transfer the credit record that I had built up there to something here in the US credit system, forcing me to deal with a 500$ secured credit card for the last year or so. So with this crappy card, my credit score improved slowly and surely, but then the whole Berkeley identity theft thing happened, which meant I had to put out a fraud alert on my newly minted credit record for 90 days. That was fine, except for the unfortunate side effect that all online credit application systems would instantly deny me once they saw the fraud alert.
Well today, I was finally approved for a American Express Blue card. Hallelujah. I’m in finally in the in crowd now.
