After Ultimate Frisbee at work today, we stopped by the Apple Store real quick because a co-worker needed to buy an iPod. So I checked out the Mac Pro. Except that there was _no Pro-level software installed!_ What is the point of showing off your Pro level machine if people can’t test the software they’d be using on it? No Aperture, Final Cut, Shake, or anything else. There were a bunch of other Mac Book Pro’s that had that stuff on it, but the Mac Pro’s looked like plain OS X installations. Totally lame.
So instead, I openned up about 50 Safari windows to see if it could handle the load. Although expose slowed to a crawl because of the lack of Video RAM, things still seemed pretty snappy, which was a good sign.
Another thing I don’t understand about the Apple Store, why are the counter’s so low? It’s so difficult to type or mouse around. Maybe it discourages people from staying at the machines too long, but it’s still annoying.
